You can tke him out with three good stomps. Otherwise, get ready to dodge! If you are having trouble, be sure to grab the power up to the far left of his door (it's in an invisible block along the left wall at the top of the shaft). If you hit him before he fires, all the better. Dodge his shell and get ready to hit him immediately after he comes back out of it. Use the swinging platform to reach the ledge on the other side. Then jump onto the next rising platform, and jump from there to the ledge. The key to Ludwig is to head him off before he emits too many fireballs. He not only has Mario-seeking magic fireballs, but can flutter in the air a bit like your dinosaur companion.

You'll be taken to the second coin, right inside the next area. From here you can get on top of the structure, out of the camera's view. There's an invisible block here, right at the edge of the roof. Instead, direct the platform (tilt the Wii remote) to the left.
